Perhaps more social events, invite in a few extra drinks & nibbles than usual? 😉

Maybe it’s the supermarkets’ tempting festive goodies that stare you in the face as you walk in?

A way we invite you to look at this is to consider that only a part of you is tempted, yet another part of you wants to remain in control and decide when you will enjoy the experience of those festive goodies.

For example, I have a client that told me last year that she was very much enjoying the mince pies. However, she shared with me that sometimes she was eating them because they are always readily available at work, and at home on the kitchen counter. She wanted to enjoy the experience of eating the mince pies, yet she tended to feel quite guilty afterwards because she was eating more of them than she would have liked.

When we discussed her guilt further, she realised that what she wanted most was to enjoy the experience of eating mince pies with her family actually at Christmas, because this was a family tradition. Simply identifying that she associated the warm good memories of family time with mince pies helped her to not be as tempted  to reach out for a readily available mince pie at work when she was having a stressful day.
