Our behaviour is massively influenced by external triggers around us, which for most people cause them to act in an undesirable way without evening realising.
For example:
- You walk into the kitchen and there in plain sight is the biscuit tin on the side or unhealthy treats as soon as you open the fridge
- The shiny discount offers on food items that prompt & tempt you into picking them up
- Even though you may not have even gone in for that item in the first place, bonkers.
- The sweet treat your colleagues may have brought into work โ even though you promised yourself you were going to be good today
The point being is that we have external triggers all around us that can cause us to act in certain ways.
My question to you is:
How much is this having a negative impact on your health & fitness results at the moment?
So, what could you do instead to help yourself stay on track easier?
- Replace the biscuit tin with a healthy fruit bowl or homemade energy bars
- Plan your shopping list in advance so you have NO reason to go down the sweet isle
- Place your walking/running shoes near the door to remind yourself to complete a workout โ even if it’s only 5-10 minutes each time
- Set a simple reminder on your phone
- Ask someone to help keep you accountable
